About Little Britches

Little Britches started in March of 2003 out of the dream of its founders, two local moms, Lisa and Sarah. They wanted to provide a sale that would not only allow local parents to shop for their kids without the guilt of paying retail, but also allow local families to recoup some of the cost put into the purchase of items their kids needed. The first sale hosted 50 consignors at what used to be the Wildcat Creek Sports Complex banquet room. The sale then moved to Crestview Chistian Church for the following 9 sales until the space was outgrown, and in 2008, it was moved to the Kansas National Guard Armory. Currently Little Britches hosts hundreds of consignors and over 20,000 items at each sale!

In 2018, Sarah and Lisa sold the business to Manhattan residents Brandy and Shaun (more about us below!) who currently own and operate the sale. We take a lot of pride in having a business that directly benefits families in the area who can make money selling their gently used items and purchase items for their families at a fraction of retail. We also love the environmental impact of being a part of keeping items with love left to give out of landfills and helping bargain shoppers use less gas by purchasing what they need in one location. This is our home and our community, and running an event that has an impact on our neighbors is a true privilege.

The sale simply could not happen without the incredible volunteers, consignors, and shoppers who show up for each sale. Whether its a long time volunteer who knows the sale well, a seller who works hard to bring great items to each sale, or a new parent shopping for their growing family, every person who chooses to make themselves a part of the sale is allowing it to continue to serve the Manhattan area for many years to come!

About the Owners

Hello! My name is Brandy McDonald and this is my husband Shaun. We both grew up in Manhattan and have lived in the area our entire lives. Needless to say, this is home to us and we love it here. We are both Manhattan High grads and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Family Studies and Human Serices. When we decided to start a family, it was a given for us that this was the place we wanted to raise our kids. We now have three kids, and our family enjoys camping, hiking, board games, and family movie nights.

We’ve been involved with the Little Britches Sale for about 11 years. We started as shoppers, then volunteers, and eventually added on consigning! I had also been running the Facebook page for the sale for several years, which helped me learn a lot about the sale and “meet” a lot of the people involved in it. In 2018, we purchased the business from the previous owners, Sarah and Lisa. They have been very helpful as we've learned the ropes and as we've gotten started and are grateful they trusted us to carry on their legacy! We've loved getting to work with everyone who is a part of the sale and are looking forward to many more to come!
